This weekend after performing at Club RUB, I went on to Antagony a hard music night which has a huge anything goes attitude. Some of my friends go regularly and had been telling me I needed to go for sometime! The night’s described as Queer Punk- a term I’ve not heard much other than in reference to this, but apparently my friends felt I would fit the scene well. So, prepared for some serious dancing I wore my big ol’e goth boots and threw on a my rubber corset and hood with some leather gloves and got going! The music was amazing once I relaxed into the vibe and got my groove on, I hadn’t danced like this in a LONG time. It was like my first goth club days but harder and faster and with more confidence! The club has a preserved back street, run down look to it, one entered through the back door rather than the front and there was minimal staff and the club itself was tatty, creating a perfect squattish vibe which I feared would be missing when I discovered the event was not held at squats and warehouses as I’d first envisaged. The smoke machine filled the room and a projector screened cult visuals, the dancers sweat covered and incensed by the music, skins pierced heavily and mottled with tattoos, hair dreadlocked, shaved. A heavy hardcore fetish rave indeed.
